The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1931 - 1954) Tue 4 May 1937 OBITUARY Mr. George Edwin Wood, of Price, who died recently at the Ardrossan Hospital was the fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wordsworth Wood, and grand-nephew of the poet, William Wordsworth. Mr. Wood's father died last August in his 93rd year. Mr. Wood's early life was spent in Ethelton and Nailsworth, where his father was a school teacher but most of his life was spent in Kilkerran and Price. For many years he was a member and secretary of the old Kilkerran Cricket Club and of the Price team, and often played in matches in Adelaide. Mr. Wood was a member of the Masonic Lodge, also a member and warden of St. Andrew's Church ol England. and it was largely through his efforts that the church was built at Price six years ago on a block of land given by him. He married Adeline, elder daughter of the late Mr. Robert Whitelaw of Kilkerran, and of the late Mrs. J. O. Tiddy. sen. Maitland, who survives. There are six children-Messrs. Jack (Barmera), Lawrence and Allan, (Price), Mesdames F. Mullins (Price), and K. Brooke-Cowden (Perth), and Miss Grace Wood. There are also four brothers- Messrs. W. and H., of North Adelaide, and Edgar and Ernest, of Western Australia.
George married Adeline Emily Augusta WHITELAW [13016] [MRIN: 4803], daughter of Robert WHITELAW [13017] and Augusta Emily HOFFRICHTER [13018], on 12 Mar 1902 in Congregational Church, Maitland, South Australia. (Adeline Emily Augusta WHITELAW [13016] was born on 26 Nov 1879 in Kilkerran, South Australia and died in 1984 in South Australia.)
