GIFT EVENING TO MISS M. SMART.
On Wednesday evening a gift evening was tendered to Miss M. Smart, prior to her marriage. The hall was nicely arranged with greenery and colored flowers. On the guests' arrival they were greeted with the singing of "For they are jolly good fellows. Mr. Barnes welcomed Miss Smart and) Mr. Maguire and extended to them the goodwill of those present. Mr. Maguire responded amid applause. Dancing was carried on till 12 p.m., with Mr. R. Farrant as master of ceremonies. During the evening Miss Pearce danced the Highland Scottische. A very dainty supper was served by the ladies, during the course of which Mr. G. Williams spoke on behalf of those present, expressing good wishes to the guests of the evening. Mr. Fulwood spoke on behalf of the sporting bodies of the town and presented Miss Smart and Mr. Maguire with a cheque. Mr. Maguire thanked the speakers and all those present. A table in front of the stage was arranged with a beautiful array of gifts. The supper room and tables were most prettily decorated with greens and real peach 'blossom. The evening was closed about 12 p.m. by singing "God Save the King."

WEDDING BELLS.
A very pretty wedding was witnessed, by many at 4 p,m. on October 5th, when Michael J., son of Mrs., and the late Mr. Maguire of Western Australia, was joined in holy matrimony to Murial M. (Milly), daughter of Mrs. E. and the late Mr. J. Smart of Minnipa. The Rev. G. W. Scholefield officiated. The bride, who enteredi to the singing of "The voice that breathed o'er Eden,' was given away by her brother, Mr. G.R. Smart, and looked charming in a dress of white georgette, the bodice being moulded to the figure, with skirt flaring to the ankles. The sleeves were tight fitting with flared cuffs, and she wore white satin shoes. A lovely bouquet of white flowers - and fern was carried-. A beautiful tulle veil, arranged cap fashion and held in place by bands of orange blossom, completed the toilet. Little Dulcie Smart (niece of the bride) was flower girl, dressed in blue floral organdi (early Victorian style), with a bonnet, and carried a basket of pink and blue tinted sweet peas and fern. The bridesmaid, Olive Smart (bride's sister) wore a very pretty frock of blue georgette, with small frills on the bodice and waist, and tiny frilled sleeves. She wore a fashionable hat of pint straw and carried a bouquet of pink flowers, fern and streamers. Blue satin shoes werworn. Mr. W.G. Smart was best man. The hall was very prettily arranged by members of the Church of England ladies' guild with archways and flowers. The color scheme was carried out with lilies, pink and white antirrhinums, stocks and sweet peas, with white broom and fern. Mrs. W.H. Chartier presided at the piano and during the signing of the register the congregation sang the matrimonial hymn, "How welcome was the call." The happy couple left to the strains of the wedding march, amid showers of confetti, for the bride's home, where a breakfast for immediate relatives was held. Mr. and Mrs. Maguire will reside in this district.
