Wednesday 7 May 1941) DISTRICT NOTES: Moodiarrup . . . . The Red Cross dance which was held in the Moodiarrup Hall on Saturday, April 26, proved very successful and enjoyable. Music was provided by the "Bosca-Band," Mr. Rene Hughes acting in the capacity of M.C. Local ladies provided a delicious sit down supper. Several young A.I.F. men were present, including R. Judge (Boscabel), Sid Clunie, John King and O. and L. Lewis, of Darkan. Although it rained hard during the evening, that fact did not dampen the spirits of the dancers. . . .
Great Southern Herald (Katanning, WA) Saturday 10 January 1942 COUNTRY NOTES. Boscabel. Events which took place at Boscabel during December included a well laden Christmas tree on December 20, when many happy little faces were seen as the gifts were distributed. Then children of the Boscabel School gave a very enjoyable concert their teacher, Mrs. Sid. Benn, presenting each one of them with a suitable prize. After the concert the hall was cleared, and the rest of the evening was devoted to a gift evening to Mr. Keith Benn and Miss Dallas Larsen, in view of their approaching marriage. They were the recipients of many pretty and useful presents, the function concluding with a jolly dance and a delicious supper. The "Bosca" Band supplied the necessary music. The usual Boxing Night dance was held, and, although the attendance was not so large as in other years, It proved very successful, proceeds being devoted to Red Dross funds. The absence of so many young men of the district in camp made a dis tinct difference. The Bosca Band was in attendance, with Mr. Rene Hughes, of Duranilling, as M.C., and the evening was most enjoyable, concluding with a very nice supper provided by the Boscabel ladies.
