Obituary:
Mr. Alfred Herbert Ernest James, a well-known resident of the Narracoorte district, died on Monday, at the age of 47 years. He was born in Salisbury, South Australia, and was a son of the late Mr. Joseph James. After working at the Brighton cement works, he entered the employ of Mr. Bartlett Miller at Brighton and on the peninsula. He opened a branch of Mr. Miller's lime works in Narracoorte at about 1913, and five years ago took over the business on his own account, and carried it on until the time of his death. He had been married for a quarter of a century to Miss R. M. Tilbrook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Tilbrook, of Brighton. Mr. James was a prominent worker in the Methodist Church, and was the President of the Narracoorte Football Club. He took a prominent part in patriotic movements during the war, and was a member of the repatriation committee. He has Ieft a widow, two sons; and two daughters.

Alfred married Rosa Maud TILBROOK [2601] [MRIN: 869], daughter of David John TILBROOK [743] and Mary Sophia SMART [687], on 10 Nov 1897 in Wesleyan Parsonage, Glenelg, Adelaide. (Rosa Maud TILBROOK [2601] was born on 22 Jun 1874 in Brighton, Adelaide, SA, Australia and died on 16 Nov 1968 in Naracoorte, South Australia.)
