The Brisbane Courier Saturday 1 October 1927 FALLOWS - CURTIS A wedding of interest to a large circle of friends took place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Buranda, on September 29. The church had been tastefully decorated Pastor Cheseon officiated The bridegroom was Mr Harry Fallows (eldest son of Mr and Mrs J H Fallows Bulimba), and the bride was Miss Hazel Curtis (eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A Curtis, Adelaide). The bride, who was given away by her uncle (Mr Mackay), wore a frock of ivory repe de Chine and silver lace, finished with orange blossom. Her veil, which was lent by Mrs Edgar Weigh, was arranged in cap fashion with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of lilies Misses Eileen and Muriel Fallows (sisters of the bridegroom), who attended as bridesmaids, were frocked in pale green and pink crepe de Chine respectively and they wore caps and veils to tone. They carried bouquets of pink and mauve sweet peas. Mr C Anderson acted as best man, and Mr J Watt as groomsman. At the conclusion of the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Vegetarian Cafe, Queen street. Subsequently Mr and Mrs Harry Fallows left for their honeymoon which is being spent in a motor tour of the Northern Rivers The bride wore a travelling frock of navy blue crepe de Chine, showing a French pleated skirt, with a hat to harmonise.

Obituary1960 Death of Matron: The death occurred last week of Miss Hazel Fallows, Matron of the Mareeba Babies' Hospital, Woodville. Matron Fallows had been on the Mareeba staff since 1948, when she was appointed supervisor of the babies' food room. She was appointed matron of the hospital in 1954. The secretary of the Royal Australian nursing Federation, SA branch (Miss E. Sinclair Wood) said yesterday that Matron Fallows had been greatly loved by all in the nursing profession. "She was a fine person with a very pleasing personality. Her work was always of a high standard and her death is a great loss," she said. Matron Fallows did her psychiatric training at the Parkside Mental Hospital, her general training at the Port Pirie Hospital and her midwifery and infant welfare training at Torrens House Mothercraft Training School, South terrace, city. She was an active member of the RANF and was a senior vice-president of the federation.
