Remanded On Conversion Charge
A remand until Thursday was ordered Frederick Charles Harvey, agent, of South terrace, City, when he appeared in the Adelaide Police. Court today .He was charged with having on October 11 fraudulently converted to his own use the proceeds of a cheque for £13/17/3 which had been entrusted to him by Allen Henry Jones to apply to the payment of the first year's premium on an insurance policy for £300. Bail in a personal bond of £40 was allowed by Mr. Muirhead, P.M. The Police. Prosecutor (Inspector Crafter) appeared for the police.

Fraudulent Conversion Alleged
Frederick Charles Harvey, agent, of South terrace, city, was remanded until November 3 by Mr. Muirhead, P.M., in the Adelaide Police Court on Saturday on a charge of having, on October 11, fraudulently converted a cheque for £l3 7.3 or the proceeds thereof to his own use and benefit, the cheque having been entrusted to him by Allen Henry Jones, farmer, of Virginia, in order that he might apply it to the payment of the first year's premium on a probate insurance policy for the sum of £300. He was allowed bail in a bond of £40.

Charge Against Agent Adjourned
Frederick Charles Harvey, agent, of South terrace, city, was charged before Mr. Morgan, S.M., in the Adelaide Police with at Court yesterday, haying, Angle Vale, on October 10 obtained a cheque for £13 7 3 from Allen Henry Jones by falsely pretending that he was an agent of the Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd., and that he had authority to transact business for and on account of that association. An alternative charge was that the defendant obtained a cheque for £13 7 3 drawn by A. H. Jones in order that he might pay it to The Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd., and fraudulently convened the cheque or its proceeds to his own use and benefit. The case was part heard and adjourned until today. Assistant Police Prosecutor Barrington prosecuted, and Mr. A. E. Smith appeared for Harvey.

Released On A Bond
Frederick Charles Harvey, 53, agent, of South terrace, city, was convicted in the Adelaide Police Court yesterday by Mr. Morgan, S.M., of having, at Angle Vale, on October 10, obtained a cheque for £13 7/3 from Allen Henry Jones by falsely pretending that he was an agent of the Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd., and that he had authority to transact business for and on account of that association. Evidence was given that the defendant had borne a good character in the past, and in the circumstances Mr. Morgan decided to release him on a bond of £20 to be of good behavior for two years. A second charge of having fraudulently converted the cheque or its proceeds to his own use and benefit was dismissed. Assistant Police Prosecutor Barrington appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. A. E. Smith for the defendant.

Members of the former Two Wells sub branch are advised of the Funeral arrangements which appeared in Wednesday's Advertiser for the late life member, Allen Henry Jones, 6077 (1st 10th Batt.). Passed away on October 1, 1991, in his 97th year.

Allen married Constance Harriet ARNEY [1761] [MRIN: 962], daughter of William Henry ARNEY [160] and Rachel Moore LINDSAY [1757], on 6 Oct 1920 in Holder Memorial Methodist Church, Mile End, Adelaide. (Constance Harriet ARNEY [1761] was born on 11 Nov 1897 in Woodside, South Australia, died on 27 Dec 1999 in Helping Hand Centre, North Adelaide and was cremated on 30 Dec 1999 in Enfield Memorial Park, Clearview, Adelaide, South Australia.)
