McGuire- Stephens
The marriage of Lavinia. youngest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. T. P. McGuire, of Port Adelaide, to Stanley. son of Mrs. and the late Mr. F. J. Stephens, of Charles street, Paddington, took place on Saturday night. The ceremony was performed at St. Paul's Church. "Port Adelaide, by Archdeacon S. J. Houison. The church was decorated with red and white chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. The bride's brother (Mr. P. N. Mc- Guire) gave her away. Her dress of crepe satin ottaman. moulded to the figure, was made with a long train, forming a fan effect. The honiton lace veil, given by the bride's sister (Mrs. J. H. Willason) was caught with a halo of orange blossom, surmounting an eye-veil. She carried a sheaf of lilies. As the bride left the church a lucky horseshoe was placed on her arm by little Betty Allen, a niece of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Misses Veronica McGuire, sister of bride, and Jessie Marston, both wearing dresses of delustred white angel skin. with little trains and waterfall frills falling at the side. A contrasting effect was provided by small red toques, with red eve-veils and white ospreys, red brooches and buckles and red shoes. They carried crescent-shaped sheaves of red gladioli and roses, and autumn leaves. Mr. B A. Williams was best man and Mr. Howard Trotter groomsman. The reception was held at the Largs Pier Hotel. The guests were received: by Mesdames McGuire and Stephens. Mrs. McGuire wore a grey windswept crepe ensemble with blue tonings, while Mrs, Stenhens chose a blue floral frock worn with a plain blue swagger coat and fawn tonings. Both carried posies of yellow roses and blue delphiniums. Mr. J. V. Loney was the toastmaster. The bride's travelling dress was of rustana wool elaine, made in the new coat frock style, with bell sleeves and black tonings. She wore black fox furs, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. Stephens will spend their honeymoon in Melbourne.
