The Advertiser Saturday 9 November 1946 The open scholarship at Walford House has been won by Valerie Anne Schulz a student at the East Adelaide school. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.P Schulz, Fifth avenue, St. Peters. The scholarship is tenable for four years at the school.
News Wednesday 18 Dec 1946 Passing by Mr PIM School Double TWO 12-year-old pupils of Grade VII at East Adelaide School, both soldiers' children, have won scholarships to private schools next year. They are lan Brooker, dux of the school, who has gained a three-year scholarship to St. Peter's College, and Valerie Ann Schulz, four years at Walford House. Ian is a son of Cr. and Mrs. Murray Brooker and is keen on cricket. His father was in the 1/10 Battalion. Valerie, who gained a credit in Grade V music last month after only a year's study, is a daughter of Mr. Charles Schulz, a lighthorseman of World War I. Her sisters Pauline and Robin served with the Aamws-Pauline in the islands. Three years ago at East Adelaide, three children obtained bursaries worth £20 a year for three years. They were Wilga Gray, Patricia Bowden, and Douglas Fry, all in Miss G. Colebatch's class. Miss E. Scovell taught Valerie Schulz, and Mr. J. S. Parrington taught lan Brooker. Mr. C. R. Butterworth is the headmaster.
The Advertiser Saturday 19 May 1951 Old scholar Mrs. Keith Todd, of Salisbury, is training the debutantes for Walford House old scholars' ball on June 15. The girls this year will be Beverley Moore, Mona Pexton, Kay Humphris, Helen Pierson, Elizabeth Burns, Shirley Sparrow, Heather McCord, Geraldine Rossiter, Cynthia Patterson, Valerie Schulz, Audrey Goodwin, Marilyn Miller, Patsy Leigh-Jones, and Diana Phillips.
