Auckland Star 14 Jul 1937 QUEST CLUB RECEPTION. Mr. Arthur Ford, the internationally known psychic and lecturer, was given a largely attended and representative reception under the auspices of the Quest Club and Psychic Institute in the club rooms. A typical Maori welcome was accorded the visitor by Mrs. H. Trevelyn King, who later gave a short recital of Maori folk lore interspersed by musical chants and songs. Mrs. Jones-Parry and Mr. Robt. Jones-Parry were also responsible for some charming musical numbers. Supper concluded a most enjoyable function.
Auckland Star 16 Dec 1938 CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL. A grand Christmas festival is to be held in the Town Hall at 8.30 o'clock on Sunday evening, arranged by the World Fellowship of Faithr and Service. The proceeds of an offering to be taken up will go to the funds of the Campbell's Bay health camp. Features of the programme will be groups of songs by Mrs. Julia Bradley, of Wellington, 1938 Dominion aria contest winner, and by the Auckland Juvenile Choir, led by Miss Ida Holmes. Others taking part are Miss Ada Lynn, Miss Leela Bloy, Mr. Gordon Fagan, Mr. Robert Jones-Parry, Air. Alan Pow and Mr. Trevor Sparling. There will also be an address by the Rev. Alfred G. Hall. D.P., Ph. P., who will speak on the "Modern Message of Christmas."
Auckland Star, Volume LXX, Issue 6, 9 January 1939, Page 3 STRUCK BY CRICKET BALL. PLAYER SERIOUSLY HURT. When he was struck by the ball while playing cricket on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Robert Jones-Parry, aged 25, a salesman, of Cliff View Road, New Lynn, suffered a serious head injury. He was taken in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where his condition to-day was still serious. Mr. Jones-Parry was fielding close to the wicket when he was struck by a ball played off the bat.
