SYDNEY.
A case of small-pox was discovered, Joseph Sutcliffe, on board the Hero, from Newcastle. She has been quarantined. The City of Melbourne has been released from quarantine. Five other vessels have been quarantined. Arrived, from New York, large shipments of kerosene for the Australasian colonies. Wool sales A small quantity offered prices steady.

Surgeon-Captain Thomas Cahill's promotion to Surgeon-Major appears in this week's Gazette. The transfer of Captain Arthur M'Cartney, P Battery, Napier, and Lieutenant Michael Marr, Royal Rifle Volunteers, Marton, to the Wellington District Reserve Corps, is gazetted; also, the transfer of Captain Joseph Sutcliffe, Royal Rifle Volunteers, Marton, to the honorary unattached list.
