The Advertiser (Adelaide) Friday 18 August 2006 Death Notice: ARNEY, Vera Myrtle. -- (nee Willson) Aged 95 years. Loving wife of Max (deceased), loving mother of Alice and Eric. Mother-in-law of Ken and Marlene and grandmother of Trevor, Garry, Susan, David, Lacy and Kingsley. Great-grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Reunited with Max Always loved. Murray Pioneer and Australian River Record (Renmark, SA : 1913 - 1942) Friday 13 November 1931 Weddings: WILLSON-ARNEY - Alawoona, November 6. In the Church of England at Awaloona, on Saturday October 3, Vera, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Willson late of Kangaroo Island, now of Awaloona was married to Mr Maxwell Arney, a son of Mr. and the late Mis. W. A. Arney of Wanbi. The church was tastefully decorated wife large bowls of white lillies and irises. The arch was decorated with pink and white roses entwined with, creepers and fern and silver bronze shoes. The Rev. A. Shepherd officiated and Mrs. W. Jeffrey presided at the organ. She also sang during the signing of the register. The bride, who was given away by her father was gowned in sleeveless white georgette, ankle length, with silver panels hanging from the waist. The skirt was slightly flere and rucked in front and back. The long tulle veil was beautifully embroidered in flowers and fastened to a net cap trimmed with tiny sprays of orange blossoms. She wore shoes and gloves to tone and carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. The two bridesmaids, Miss Linda Willson, sister of the bride and Miss Elsie George were both gowned in sleeveless ankle length, pale green georgette frocks made with long bodices and full flared skirts. They wore shoes and hats to match, and carried pink and white bouquets. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Kenneth Arney, his brother, Mr. Arthur Arney was grooms man. The bride's mother wore a costume of navy marocain relieved with white. There were over 200 present. The wedding breakfast was set at the parents' home, where the relatives of the bride and groom were received. The travelling costume was navy crepe de chene with hat and shoes to match. The honeymoon was spent at Victor Harbour[sic].
