MARRIAGE
Caldicott- Toy.
The Norwood Baptist Church was the scene of a pretty rainbow wedding on December 20. The contracting parties were Gladys Vera, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Toy, Parade, Norwood, and Mr. Erle Sanders Caldicott. The Rev. A. W. Bean being absent on active service, Pastor J. Wiltshire officiated. Mr. Warren presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a gown of white crepe de chene, the blouse being strapped effect, trimmed with pearls, ninon blouse veiling, white guipure lace, the skirt draped with spray of orange blossom caught on both sides. She wore the orthodox veil, surmounted with a coronet of orange blossoms. A beautiful bouquet of Christmas lilies and delphiniums, from which hung streamers of bebe ribbons, completed her toilet. In attendance as first bridesmaid was Miss Merle Caldicott (sister of the bridegroom), in a frock of pale pink crepe de chene. She wore a black picture hat trimmed with pale pink grapes, and carried a posy of blue delphiniums. The second bridesmaid was Miss Olive Toy (cousin of the bride). Her dress was of pale yellow crepe de chene, set off with a black picture hat trimmed with a large pale yellow daisy. Her posie consisted of pale pink sweet pea and carnations. The bridegroom was supported by his brother (Mr. C. J. Caldicott), and Mr. E. Overall was groomsman. The reception was held at Ruthven Mansions, where Mrs. Toy received the guests, wearing a mole crepe de chene dress and carrying a posy of dark red carnations. The bride's travelling dress was a white silk coat and skirt, with a boat-shaped hat of white Tagel straw lined with pale pink silk.
