CHOAT-WILLCOX
ON Saturday, 24th Sept., a very pretty wedding took place at St. Stephen's Church of England, Uraidla when Joy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarrie Willcox, of Uraidla, was married to Ronald Maxwell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Choat, of Stirling. The church had been very prettily decorated by friends of the bride with yellow daffodils and white broom, and lilies.
The bride looked very attractive as she entered the church on the arm of her father. Her ivory satin gown was trimmed with silk lace buttoned down the back, the very full skirt merging into a long train. Her long tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of sweet peas and carnations.
Misses Eunice and Shirley Brooks (bride's cousins) and (Barbara Choat (bridegroom's sister) were bridesmaids looking charming in lavender net with lace over taffeta and carrying sheafs of pink carnations and sweet peas and haloes of pink carnations worn on their hair. Mr. David Scott, of Aldgate, was best man. While the register was being signed Mr. Jack Ewens sang "Give Thanks to God." As the happy couple walked from the church little Rosslyn Lockett (bridegroom's niece) and Lois Brooks (bride's cousin) hung good luck horseshoes on the arm of the bride. After the ceremony the bridal party and about 120 relatives and friends gathered at the Summertown hall where the reception was held. The usual toasts were honored and messages of congratulations read.
The young couple left by plane for Mt. Gambier where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a pretty chartreuse green ensemble with accessories of London tan. The couple will settle in their new home at Stirling East.
