Southern Cross (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1954) Fri 11 Aug 1950 Page 11 CIVIC CONCERT Mr. Wylde's recital opened with Toc cata and Fugue in D Minor. This was a noble performance of one of the most dramatic and varied of all Bach's compositions. This was followed by Cyril Scott's infelicitous disarrangement of "All Through The Night." Then came Mr. Wylde's own arrangement of the "Derry Air." He has considerable experience in arranging Irish melodies, but this seems to be the best he has done. It would take a whole article to do the faintest measure of justice to its artistry and beauty. Neville Hicks sang, to a remarkably skilful accompanient by Shirley Sawtell, "Adelaide" (Beethoven), and "Do Not Go, My Love" (Hagemann). This was a technically brilliant and artistic performance. Mr. Wylde resumed with "Chanty" (Whitlock) and ended with the hearty "Hosannah" of Dubois.- A.E.O'L.
