Fowlis Wester, Perthshire is West of Perth. Settled by one of three French brothers. Fowlis (pronounced Fowls) French corruption of Feuillis (leaves). The village appears in Charter of Inchaffray in 1208 as Foglais, Celtic meaning burn. The town had strong associations with Weaving around 1800 and earlier.
