MR. C. F. J. GOULTER
The death occurred last evening in Hawkesbury, Blenheim; of Mr. Charles Francis Joseph Goulter, in his 81st year. The late Mr. Goulter was born on April 11, 1854, at Stafford Place, Nelson. His father was Mr. Cyrus Goulter, and his mother was Anne, sister of the late Archbishop Redwood. At an early age he showed a strong aptitude for pedigree stock mating and breeding, and in his early twenties he was sent by his father to South Australia and Tasmania, where he purchased purebred merino rams and ewes, which formed the foundation of the famous Hawkesbury, Murray, and Tasmanian merino strains. Mr. Goulter was also outstandingly successful in breeding champion Jersey cattle and other live-stock.

Mary married Frederick ALLEN [3059] [MRIN: 998], son of James ALLEN [3413] and Unknown, on 9 Jul 1884 in Res of Eber Goulter Hd of Crystal Brook, S.A. (Frederick ALLEN [3059] was born about 1861 in South Australia.)
