Albany Advertiser (W.A.) Thursday 24 Mar 1938 Rev. L. Broadbent has received s notice of a transfer to Pingelly and will take up his new duties during April. Rev. Samuel Hodgkins has been appointed to this district.
The West Australian Thursday 27 Feb 1941 Amalgamation of Circuits. During the sessions yesterday a committee was appointed to investigate the temporary amalgamation of circuits because of a shortage of ministers owing to enlistments with the armed forces. It was decided to amalgamate Dowerin, Goomalling and Wyalkatchem as one circuit, Brookton and Pingelly as one cir cuit, to work the Pemberton area from Manjimup and to attach Mt. Barker to Albany. Candidates for the ministry received for training were Messrs. Francis Jack Hales and Thomas Henry William Brayn. Mr. Clifford Thomas Lambert was received on probation, and the Rev. Samuel Hodgkins was received for ordination. Messrs. A. C. Canning, H. J. C. Cox and R. E. Finch were advanced a year in probation.

The West Australian Saturday 28 Mar 1942 The Rev. Samuel Hodgkin, assistant minister of Wesley Church, has been appointed to the Harvey circuit of the Methodist Church. He was tendered a farewell social in the rest room of the Central Mission on Thursday night.
Samuel married Doreen MANNING [3748] [MRIN: 1268], daughter of George Thomas Hooton MANNING [3745] and Hazel Amelia HOCKING [3744], in England. (Doreen MANNING [3748] was born on 28 Aug 1918 in Perth, Western Australia and died on 13 Nov 2012.)
