The death of Alfred Charles Burgess, at the age of 52, which occurred at his residence 'Ingomar,' Magill, on the 16th August was received with deep regret by his many friends on Kangaroo Island, where he has resided for about 36 years. On arriving on the Island first he lived at Dashwood Bay with his parents, and afterwards secured the Mt. Pleasant property, now known as Kiawarra. Disposing of this to his brother, Mr E. Burgess, he took up the property known as Adavale, at White Lagoon, which he held until a few years ago, and since that time has resided at Magill. He was a staunch supporter of the Island and always took great interest in any movement for its advancement, and for several years was a member of the Kingscote District Council. He leaves a widow and a family of ten to mourn their loss.
