SIDECAR CRASH AT MOTORDROME
Remarkable Escape of Two Men EXCITING RACING
Nearly 8,000 people at the Camden Motordrome on Saturday night witnessed a sensational overturning of a motor cycle and sidecar ridden by Jack
Cantlon and Allan Gage. First-aid officers carried the two men off the ground. Cantlon sustained only slight concussion and a broken thumb and Gage escaped with a scratch on his thigh. The incident happened in the second heat of the sidecar handicap. Cantlon, who had Gage as his passenger, was challenging Harry Butler, who was in front, on the southern bend, and in endeavoring to pass Butler, Cantlon's sidecar wheel rode up on the wheel of the cycle in front, with the result that Cantlon's outfit somersaulted, and the occupants were hurled on to the track with great force. The machines were travelling at a great speed at the time. Cantlon's life was undoubtedly saved by his helmet, which was damaged beyond repair. . . .
