4. Sarah RYDER [2907] (Thomas2, William1) was baptised on 15 Dec 1765 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England.

Sarah married George HOUSE [2909] on 24 Dec 1784 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England.

5. Thomas RYDER [2905] (Thomas2, William1) was baptised on 8 May 1768 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England.

Thomas married Charlotte HAWKINS [2908] on 7 Feb 1791 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England.

6. William RYDER [934] (Thomas2, William1) was baptised on 11 Nov 1770 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England and died on 2 Mar 1857 in 45 Thames St, Parish of Clewer, Windsor, Berks, England at age 86. Another name for William was RIDER.

"Of my dear old father I may say that, his father was only a farm labourer, and that he was brought up to the same occupation. . ." and ". . . for a year or two William was a Pot Boy in a Public House London (nr Drury Lane Theatre) but left for fear of the Press-gang . . . "

• Census: England, 6 Jun 1841, Victoria St, New Windsor, BRK. William is recorded age 70 a shoemaker, not born Berkshire. (Living with son Joseph and daughter-in-law, Mary.)

• Census: England, 30 Mar 1851, 45 Thames St., Clewer, Berkshire. William is recorded as Father-in-law, Widower, age 80 and described as an Annuitant. (Living with daughter Ann and Son-in-law, James Hatton.)

William married Nancy BOND [935] on 27 Apr 1801 in St Ann, Soho, Westminster, London, England. Ann was born about 1775 in Devonshire, England and died in 1838 in West London, England aged about 63. She was usually called Ann.

In Joseph Ryder's Journal he relates that his parents were married at St James Church Picadilly London, but the Parish Records indicate their marriage at St Ann Soho.

According to FamilySearch.com Ann's name was 'Nancy' born about 1775 England.
1838 Death, England & Wales Free BDM, Q2 Vol II pg 231

According to Joseph Ryder's Journal . . . "my mother, Ann, was a Native of Devonshire but removed to the neighborhood of Windsor at an early age. My mother was, for 9 years, a servant in the household of H.R.H. Princess Amelia at the Lower Lodge. I have heard that the Princess was very fond of my mother; and my brother has a water colour portrait of our mother taken by a noted French artist of the period by command of the Princess, and afterwards presented to her" . . .

Research Notes:
In 2003 A M Cannell wrote to The Royal Archives at Windsor, who, while unable to confirm Ann being employed at Windsor, did not dismiss it.

+ 9 F    iii. Anne RYDER [940] was born on 16 Feb 1810 in Berkshire, England, was baptised on 24 Jun 1810 in William Street Ind-NC Church, New Windsor, England, and died in 1904 in Reading, Berkshire, England at age 94.

+ 10 M    iv. Thomas RYDER [936] was born on 24 May 1812 in Chalvey, Buckinghamshire, England, was baptised on 21 Jun 1812 in William Street Ind-NC Church, New Windsor, England, and died on 7 Aug 1886 in Noel Cottage, Reading, Berk., England at age 74.

+ 11 M    v. Jonathan RYDER [942] was born on 12 Aug 1814 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England and was baptised on 18 Sep 1814 in Parish Church, Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England.

+ 12 M    vi. Joseph RYDER [918] was born on 31 Jul 1816 in Upton cum Chalvey, Bucks, England, was baptised on 28 Aug 1816 in William Street Ind-NC Church, New Windsor, England, died on 23 Oct 1892 in Glenelg, Adelaide, South Australia at age 76, and was buried on 25 Oct 1892 in Morphett Vale Scotch Cemetery, South Australia.
