Quorn Mercury (SA : 1895 - 1954) Fri 12 Jan 1940 Page 2 Gift Evening: At St. Joseph's Hall, on Wednesday evening, a gift evening was tendered Miss May Penman, who is to be married in the near future, by her many friends. A large and happy throng danced the hours away till midnight to music supplied by Miss Coral Chapman Mr J Pyman was M C. During the evening Mr R. Dennie, on behalf of those present, presented the many gifts displayed to the bride to-be Miss Penman neatly and appropriately responded, but the prospective bridegroom. Mr A Hillman, for the first time in his life, was apparently "stuck for words."
