Border Watch (Mt Gambier) Saturday 18 April 1931 Methodists Beat Christ Church. On Thursday the Methodist Club accepted a challenge from Christ Church players to play on their lawns. Games in the morning were rather spoilt by the rain, but the afternoon was much pleasanter. Four games were played, which were all won, by the Methodist Club. Mrs. F. R. Deane Farewelled. Mrs. F. R. Deane, who is leaving for Lameroo shortly, with Sgt. Deane, was the guest of honour of the Mount Gambier Croquet Club at their lawns, Ferrers Street, on Thursday afternoon. She was, presented with a beautiful posy, made by Miss Mitchell (Captain] of the Club). After games and afternoon tea had been enjoyed, the President (Mrs. W. C. Milton), on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Deane with a gift as a token of their love and esteem. Mrs. Milton went on to say that they were .sorry to lose her, as, besides being one of their best players, she had always been a very loyal and dependable worker, and hoped she would be as happy in her new home as she had been with them. Mrs. Deane, who is vice-president of the Club, in returning thanks for the gift and the good wishes, said she would never forget the happy times she had had with them - some of the happiest of her life. The company joined in singing "For she's a jolly good fellow." It was a perfect after noon, and there was a large attendance.
