KAROONDA
There was a large attendance at the Institute at a farewell social tendered to Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hlllman. Mr. Hillman, who has been manager of the local branch of the State Bank for some years, has been transferred to Adelaide. The chairman (Mr. O. S. Bergan) said the large attendance was Indicative of Mr and Mrs. Hillman's popularity In the district. Regret at their departure was expressed by Messrs. E. R. Miell (towns people), J. G. W. Mann (Mindarie). F. Parker (Halildon). G. A. G. Herbert (tennis club). A. H. Hawkes (Anglican church). L. Cowled (Borrika), O. Tregllgas (Yurgo), and C. S. Hall (Wynarka). On behali of the residents of Karoonda and district the chairman handed Mr. Hillman a cheque. Mr. Hlllman said his wife and he had thoroughly enjoyed their five years' residence In Karoonda. It had been a pleasure for them to do anything for the district. Mr. George, who is taking Mr. Hillman's place as manager of the State Bank, and Mrs. George were welcomed by the chairman. Musical items were rendered by Mesdames Broadbent and Tonkin, Messrs. Glbb and Hawkes. A dance followed, the music being supplied by Mrs. Jones's orchestra. Supper was served in the Masonic Hall adjoining the Institute. Mr. and Mrs. Hlllman were also tendered a farewell afternoon by the tennis club, of which Mr. Hillman has been president for five years. Mr. Hlllman was presented with an inscribed silver-mounted pipe, and Mrs. Hlllman with a box of handkerchiefs.
