On Saturday evening, September 13, Miss Spurr and Mrs. T. C. Trueman entertained a number of guests at Arcadia in honour of Mr. J. E. Thomas, of Victoria. Among those present were:- Mr. and Miss Trueman, Miss Bristowe, Mr. Mrs., and Miss Graham, Mr. and Mrs. and, Miss Kentish, Mr. and Mrs. House, Mr. Hughes, Miss Everett, Miss McDonald. Mr. Tease, Mr. F. Pocock, Mr. J. E. Thomas, Mr. Eagle, and Mr. F. Thomas. Speeches were made by Messrs. Graham, Tease, and Thomas, and an enjoyable time was spent.

HUGHES. - On the 25th August, at hospital, Horace Simpson, dearly beloved husband of Gertie, of 12 Mulga road, Hawthorndene, and loving brother of Herb., Elsie, Belle, Charles, and the late Frank, May and Norman. Aged 70 years.

HUGHES. - THE FRIENDS of the late Mr. HORACE SIMPSON HUGHES, of 12 Mulga road, Hawthorndene, are respectfully informed that his Remains were peacefully laid to rest, privately, in the Centennial Park Cemetery, on TUESDAY MORNING.
