Glenelg Guardian (SA : 1914 - 1936) Thu 12 Aug 1926 FOOTBALL. BRIGHTON V. GLENELG IMP. By "Follower." The local lads had an easy win on Saturday when they put up a big score against the Glenelg Imperials, and were able to gain some much-needed percentage. It was a disappointing game, as only 16 players represented the "Imps," and 9 of them were B graders, while the Brighton team was fairly strong. Keith Tilbrook won the toss and did not hesitate about the strong wind, and at the first bell, the home team had scored 36 points as against 6. Although the play was mainly at the home end in the second quarter, the Imps, broke away and scored a couple of smart goals. Sid Green started the third quarter well by kicking a fine goal, almost half way, and after that, followed a succession of goals. The final quarter was a wash-out, as heavy rain fell, and continued to the end of the match. Mr. Hicks umpired, and his good decisions met with approval on both sides. Owing to the threatening weather there was a poor attendance. Final scores:- Brighton, 10 goals 16 behinds. Glenelg Imps. 5 goals, 4 behinds.
