TAMMIN WEDDING
Hocking -- Simmonds
The marriage of Miss Lucy Aileen (Lulu) Simmonds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Simmonds, of the Postal Department, Tammin, to Mr. Lloyd Lindley Hocking, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. Hocking, of Kitchener Park, Tammin, was solemnised on December 3, Rev. A. James officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful ensemble of white crepe-de-chine, with a posy of orange blossom (which had been worn by her mother); her French hat was of white silk straw, finished with white satin ribbon, and a sheaf of white roses and pink carnations added a touch or color. She was attended by her four sisters, Misses Margery, Pearl, May and Bobbie, who wore pastel colored frocks of crepe satin and georgette, with becoming hats and posies to tone. Mr. Gordon Mackay was best man. In addition to wearing her mother's orange blossom, touch of other days was given by the use in the service of a Bible that has belonged to the bride's late grandparents. After the ceremony a wedding tea was served, only members of the families being present.

LUCY LEFT IN THE LURCH
After listening to the desertion story told by Mrs. Lucy Aileen Hocking concerning her husband, whom she said left her in 1938, Chief Justice Sir John North more wasn't satisfied with the evidence, and adjourned the case for consideration.
In August, 1938, Lloyd Lindley Hocking left for the Eastern States, with the understanding that he would send for his wife and family as soon as he was settled in a new job. Weeks later Lucy got a letter saying that he had no intention of making a home for her and the children. Since then Hocking has served in the New Zealand Air Force. While he was a member, he made his wife an allotment, but since he has been discharged she has received no money. Now, she said, he is attached to the American Navy, has no intention of ever returning to her and their family.
