Transcript of Marriage Licence - 1799 William Douglas Clerk Master of Arts, Vicar General and Official Principal of the Right Reverend father in God John by Divine Permifsion Lord Bishop of Sarum lawfully Constituted. To our Beloved in Christ, John Hill of the Parish of St Giles in the Borough of Reading in the County of Berks, Mason Bachelor and Susannah Binfield of the said Parish Spinster. Health Whereas it is alledged that ye have resolved to proceed to the Solomnization of true and lawful Matrimony, You having each completed the age of One and Twenty Years, and that you greatly desire to cause and obtain that the fame may be folemnized in the face of the Church we being willing that these your Desires may the more speedily obtain a due Effect and to the End thereof That this Marriage may be publickly and lawfully solemnized in the presence of the Congregation afsembled in the Parish Church of St Giles aforesaid by the Rector Vicar or Curate thereof without the Publication or Proclamation of the Banns of Matrimony and at any time in the Year Provided thereshall appear no lawful Impediment in this Case by reason of any Pre Contract entered into before the twenty fifth day of March One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty four Consanguinity Affinity or any other Cause whatsoever nor any such Controversy or Complaint be moved or now depending before any Judge Ecclesiastical or Civil for or by reason thereof And likewise that the Celebration of this Marriage be had and done publickly in the aforesaid Parish Church between the Hours of Eight and Twelve in the forenoon we for lawful Causes graciously grant this our Licence and Faculty as well to you the Parties contracting as to the Rector Vicar or Curate of the aforesaid Church who is designed to solemnize the Marriage between you in the Manner and Form above specified according to the Rites of the Book of Common Prayer setforth for that Purpose by the Authority of Parliament provided always that if in this Case there shall hereafter appear any Fraud Suggested to us or Truth supprefsed at the time of obtaining this Licence then the Licence to be void and of no Effect in Law as if the same had never been granted. And in that Case we inhibit all Ministers if any Thing of the Premises shall come to their Knowledge that they do not proceed to the Celebration of the said Marriage without consulting us or our lawful surrogate Given under the Seal which we use in this behalf this eighth Day of October in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and ninety nine. Transcript of original Will - 1832 This is the last Will and Testament of me John Hill of Eton Court Eton in the County of Berks Stone Mason I give devise and bequeath unto my dear Wife Susanna Hill all that my share and interest of and in two Customary or Copyhold messuages or tenaments Barnes Stables Hereditaments and Premises situate at Staines in the County of Middlesex and now in the occupation of Thomas Dexter or his undertenants or of an in the act produce to arise therefrom and all other property estate and effects whatsoever to which I am in anypart entitled under the will of my late father James Hill formerly of Reading in the County of Berkshire stone mason deceased or otherwise howsoever and also all other my property estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and both real and personal that I may be possessed of or entitled unto at the time of my decease to hold to her my said dear Wife our heirs executors administrators and assigns to and for her and their own proper use absolutely for ever according to the …uature? of my estate and interest of and in the said property estate and effects respectively and I hereby appoint my said wife Susanna Hill sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said John Hill have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twelfth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-two John Hill (LS) ________ Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator John Hill as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses William Wright, Stamp Office Windsor - Jno Hetherington, Grocer, Eton . . . . Proved at London the 22nd May 1832 before the Worshipful Sherrard Beaumont Bernaby Dr of Laws and surrogate by the oath of Susanna Hill widow the relict the sole executrix to whom admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
