General Notes:
The Muswellbrook Chronicle (NSW : 1898 - 1955) Wednesday 7 May 1913 Illness of Mr. George Gunter Many leaders will regret to hear that Mr. George (Gunter, who has been in failing health for sometime past is now seriously ill. Mr. Gunter has conducted a gunsmith's business here for about half a century and is consequently a local identity, and one of our best known residents. An ardent fowler and dog fancier he from time to time, possessed valuable retrievers, spaniels, and other, dogs prized by sportsmen. When genuine sport flourished in Muswellbrook Mr. Gunter was a prominent figure at the gun club meetings. A vigorous athlete, in his younger days he was a fast runner and retained fleetness of foot to an advanced age, having within the last decade raced an agile medico on the flat and beaten him easily. He belongs to the sturdy stock of a former generation, and having had special knowledge of mechanical appliances, as well as his trade has been long a useful member of the community. General sympathy will be felt for him in his present serious illness.
