The following information is courtesy of Debbie Ryan & Regan Silcock (internet) Arthur sailed on the 'Irinsides' which left the East India dock on 31 Jan 1879. He was the 16th of 22 children. He arrived in Brisbane on 24 May 1879 after spending 115 days at sea. He died of Peritonitis, resulting from cancer of the bowel. Arthur was buried on 21 Jan 1948 at The Necropolis, Springvale, Victoria, Australia. - by Debbie Ryan

The Age (Melbourne) Wednesday 21 Jan 1948 Death Notice: GUNTER. - On January 20 after a short illness, Arthur Gunter, of 6 Barton street, Surrey Hills, loving father of Nellie (Mrs McMahon), Sister Edith (Grey Sisters), Will, Theresa (deceased), Lottie (Mrs. Lane), Annie (deceased), Susan (Mrs. Dowler), loving grandfather of Rev. Bros N. and G. McMahon, Mary (Mrs. Howe), Sheila Mrs. Kemp), Margaret (Mrs. Teague), John, Frank, Bernie, Arthur, Rosemary, Marie and Margaret. -RIP.
Funeral Notice: GUNTER. - Requiem Mass for the repose of the Soul of the late ARTHUR GUNTER will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, 4 Barton-st, Surrey Hills, THIS DAY at 7 a.m. The Funeral will leave the church after prayers, commencing at 10.30 a.m., for the Boroondara Cemetery, Kew.
