The earliest records of the Bail(e)s family has been found in the Church of England Parish Church records for Redmarshall, Durham, when John Bail(e)s married Mary Davison 19th November 1781.
In the year 1791 John Bails, his wife Mary and all his family had the Small Pox, as stated in the Family Bible.

Marriage certificate shows John Bailes signed his name with an "e" but in the Banns it is without "e".
Page 22 of the Register of Redmarshall, Durham states,
" Banns of Marriage between John Bails of the Parish of Crathorne and Mary Davison of this Parish were published on these several Sundays being Nov 4th, Nov 11th, and Nov 18th by me T H Tidy, Rector."
The Rector : Thomas Holmes Tidy born 1735 - 16/4/1805 He married John1 & Mary Davison.
