In the 1841 census John(2) and his wife Hannah,son John(4), daughter Elizabeth(1) and husband James Glover, and grandson James Robert Marr lived in Grinding Chare on the banks of the Tyne River.
On 6th October 1854 the City of Newcastle & Gateshead had a Great Fire which destroyed these Streets and Warehouses.
John(2) and Hannah with their son John(4) had moved to Egypt New Road after 1841, John(2) died on 11th May 1843 and Hannah died on 9th May 1853 at that address before the Great Fire ripped through the City.
