OBITUARY
Mrs. M. Broadbent, whose death occurred at Paskeville on December 9, was a sister of the late Mr. W. Hooper, of the well-known firm of Hindley-street, Adelaide. She was born in Clerkenwell, England on December 22, 1832, and came out to South Australia in the ship Adamant as head matron to emigrants. Her husband Mr. Elijah Broadbent, came out in the Buffalo, and was consequently one of the pioneers of this State. They resided until Mr. Broadbent's death at Cherry Gardens. Afterwards Mrs. Broadbent resided at Kent Town, Glenelg, and later at Paskeville with her daughter, Mrs. Miers. In her earlier days Mrs. Broadbent was a member of the Flinders-street Baptist Church, Adelaide, but on her marriage became associated with the Methodist Church at Cherry Gardens. She was of a most amiable disposition, and rendered active service in the temperance cause. She leaves one stepson, four stepdaughters, and one daughter and grandson.

(Paskeville is near Kadina on the Coppercoast Highway north-west of Port Wakefield.)
(Tiparra was the original name for Moonta. Located approx 167 kms from Adelaide on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia.)
