A Local Aviator:
Mr. Max Choat, of Mount Barker, has been undergoing a course of training in aviation at Parafield during the past few months, and he has now proved himself capable of flying a plane, for last week he undertook his first solo flight. He has now only ( to complete a certain number of flying hours, before being granted his pilot's licence. He is very keen on flying, and is a great believer in the future of aviation.

A Mount Barker Airman:
On Tuesday, Mr. Max Choat, who recently secured his certificate as pilot, flew a plane to Mount Barker, and after cruising round for some time returned to Parafield. The weather conditions were apparently perfect, for the machine did not appear to waver in any way, while visibility must have been perfect. Mr. Choat kept higher this time than on the last occasion he was here.

Cross Actions Follow Collision
Two actions, arising out of a collision between a service car and a motor car at the intersection of Hyde and Flinders streets, city, on October 21, came before Mr. Ronald. S.M., in the Adelaide Local Court yesterday. John Crossley, musician, of Marion street. Glenelg, sued Kenneth Donald Wright, motor driver, of Stirling, and Harley Maxwell Choat, trading as Choat's Motor Service, of Mount Barker, for £30 for damage to his motor car and injuries to his chest. He alleged that Wright had caused the collision by negligent driving of Choat's service car. Choat and Wright denied liability, alleging that Crossley's negligence had caused, or contributed to the collision. In a separate action, Choat claimed £10 5/6 damages from Crossley for repairs to his car. He alleged that Crossley had been negligent. Crossley denied negligence and alleged negligence on the plaintiff's part. Mr. E. E. McLaughlin appeared for Crossley, and Mr. E. A. Genders for Choat and Wright. Mr. Ronald held that Crossley. In coming out of Hyde street, had not kept a proper look-out for traffic approaching on his right. Wright had been travelling in a reasonable position on the road at a reasonable speed. Confronted by a car crossing his path, he had tried to turn to the right, but had not had time or space to avoid collision. Crossley had done nothing to avoid it and had been negligent in failing to give way and in not keeping a proper look out. His action must fail and there would be judgment for Choat in his action against Crossley for the amount claimed.

"Stupidity And Recklessness"
To the Editor
Sir -As a constant user of the bills roads. I am pleased to note the remarks on this all-important matter by Mr. Max Choat, who, with his team of experts, can speak with authority on the many breaches enacted by careless drivers. One sees flagrant breaches daily, and many near misses. The need for extra police on country race days is essential. Many race goers, in their desire to "get there for the first," seem to forget road rules and road etiquette. On the return journey, too, more extreme cases of stupidity and recklessness on the part of drivers are apparent. I might mention three danger points within a half-mile - the turn into Stirling, the rise opposite Stirling Bus Cafe, and that at the Stirling Hotel. If these were policed much revenue might be gained, accidents averted, and comfort added to drivers who play the same. I am, Sir, &C., W. A. MAXWELL Stirling West.
