The Mount Barker Courier and Onkaparinga and Gumeracha Advertiser Advertiser Thursday 2 October 1947 Stirling West -SILVER WEDDING- It being Mr. and Mrs. Max Choat's silver wedding on the 23rd September, relatives and some friends gave them a surprise party on Saturday, 20th. About 40 people assembled at their home, where a happy evening was spent. Competitions and games were indulged in. People came from Lobethal, Carey's Gully, Mount Barker, and Adelaide. At the close of the evening supper was served, and a beautiful wedding cake, made by their daughter, Mrs. Bob Lockett. Mr. and Mrs. Choat received some nice silver presents.

The Mount Barker and Onkaparing and Gumeracha Advertiser Wednesday 10 December 1952 Stirling Personal: Mr. and Mrs. Max Choat and daughter (Janette) of Druids Avenue, Stirling West, returned home in the Orcades last Sunday, after a most wonderful and interesting trip abroad. They toured England and Scotland by car to the most northern point of Scotland, John O Groats, and to the most southern point of England, Lands End. Afterwards touring the Continent European countries visited included France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Holland and Belgium and the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Choat and Janette were away for eight months.
The Mount Barker and Onkaparing and Gumeracha Advertiser Wednesday 12 August 1953 Travellers Return: Mr. and Mrs. Max Choat returned Lome on Monday (3rd) after a holiday cruise to Cairns Queensland. They travelled on the Overland to Melbourne, where they boarded the MV Manoora, called at Sydney and on to Cairns. Whilst in Queensland they were chaperoned to various resorts and had a good look round Townsville. In all the trip lasted nearly a month. Last year Mr. and Mrs Choat took their daughter (Janette) for a tour of England, Scotland and the Continent.

Mother-in-law of Bob, Bob, Joy, Peter and James. Fond nana of 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Aged 85 years. Peacefully sleeping.
